Competencec back to ToC or Class ToC

IRI: https://portal.carto4ch.huma-num.fr/ontologies/heco#Competence

This class represents competences. ESCO Citation: "Notice that while sometimes used as synonyms, the scope of the terms “skill” and “competence” can be distinguished. “Skill” refers to the use of methods or instruments in a particular setting and in relation to defined tasks. “Competence” is broader and refers to the ability of a person, facing new situations and unforeseen challenges, to use and apply knowledge and skills in an independent and self-directed way." In HeCo, a competence is something that has several facets, which may specify the scope of the knowledge involved (a discipline such as Archaeology, an area such as Archives, an object of study such as stonework by cathedral builders), or more technical aspects such as the mastery of a technique, a standard method or a tool, or some behavioural aspects like the ability to be attentive to other members in a team. A facet can also refer to a rating scale, such as the European Qualification Framework EQF. A facet is defined by its type (e.g. Discipline) and a value that is possible for this type (e.g. Archaeology). The types may be fixed for a given application. For instance the first version of carto4CH addresses only four types: Discipline, Area, Object of study, and Tool. The values of these types are given by a terminology, that can be implemented either as ontologies or as thesauri.

Facetc back to ToC or Class ToC

IRI: https://portal.carto4ch.huma-num.fr/ontologies/heco#Facet

This class represents a facet that defines a competence. A facet is defined by a couple of properties, one for the type of the facet and one for its value regarding this type. Both of the type and the value must be items of a terminology, whatever the implementation of this ontology is. In other words, the type and the value must be URIs. Example: the type may be :discipline and the value :archaeology

FacetTypec back to ToC or Class ToC

IRI: https://portal.carto4ch.huma-num.fr/ontologies/heco#FacetType

A FacetType is an element of a terminology of types of facets for describing a competence. In version 0.7 this terminology contains the following items: :discipline, :area, :objectOfStudy, :tool, :EQFlevel (used by CHARTER), :CHARTERfunction (used by CHARTER), :ESCOskill (used by CHARTER), :attitude (suggested during workshop MSH WebSem in november, 2022) In version 0.8 this is the same but we focus on four of them by creating four classes, :Discipline, :Area, :ObjectOfStudy and :Tool, and creating four properties hasDiscipline, hasArea, hasObjectOfStudy, and hasTool. One can add an axiom to relate these specific classes and properties to the generic representations with facets.

FacetValuec back to ToC or Class ToC

IRI: https://portal.carto4ch.huma-num.fr/ontologies/heco#FacetValue

A FacetValue is a value that belongs to the set of values that a facet type can have. This set is a terminology, implemented either as an ontology or as a thesurus. Example: :archaeology for the FacetType :discipline

Functionc back to ToC or Class ToC

IRI: https://portal.carto4ch.huma-num.fr/ontologies/heco#Function

This class is to declare a role associated to a PersonGroupAssociation (Job, Commitment, Training). This role is played during a period of time, which may be specified, and is characterised by a term (with a label). An example of the label of the term could be "president", or "apprentice".

Groupc back to ToC or Class ToC

IRI: https://portal.carto4ch.huma-num.fr/ontologies/heco#Group

Same definition as E74_Group of CIDOC CRM: "This class comprises any gatherings or organizations of human individuals or groups that act collectively or in a similar way due to any form of unifying relationship. In the wider sense this class also comprises official positions which used to be regarded in certain contexts as one actor, independent of the current holder of the office, such as the president of a country. In such cases, it may happen that the group never had more than one member. A joint pseudonym (i.e., a name that seems indicative of an individual but that is actually used as a persona by two or more people) is a particular case of E74 Group. A gathering of people becomes an instance of E74 Group when it exhibits organizational characteristics usually typified by a set of ideas or beliefs held in common, or actions performed together. These might be communication, creating some common artifact, a common purpose such as study, worship, business, sports, etc. Nationality can be modelled as membership in an instance of E74 Group. Married couples and other concepts of family are regarded as particular examples of E74 Group."
